Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! retells the story of how Ash Ketchum and Pikachu became partners on the day Ash overslept and missed his chance at a traditional starter Pokémon. After a rocky start, the two form an unbreakable bond and catch a rare glimpse of the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh soaring overhead, leaving behind a Rainbow Wing that sets them on a new adventure. Joined by fellow trainers Verity and Sorrel, Ash catches an abandoned Charmander, raises a Caterpie into Butterfree, and encounters the Mythical Pokémon Marshadow as they race to reach Ho-Oh before the arrogant trainer Cross can stand in their way.
