Sonic Origins carries remastered versions of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD, all in widescreen with a new anniversary mode. Sonic Mania is the fan-made-turned-official sequel that most people will tell you is the best 2D Sonic ever made, built by the people who spent years reverse-engineering the originals. Sonic Superstars is the 2023 return to 2D with hand-drawn-style 3D art, Chaos Emerald powers and four-player co-op. That is well over a dozen zones' worth of running, and it covers 1991 to 2023 without leaving the side-on view. The physical release includes a reversible 35th anniversary cover sheet and a logo patch.
