Final Fantasy Resonance takes the HD-2D style Square Enix built for Octopath and Live A Live and points it at Final Fantasy for the first time. The story is an adaptation of the Lapis arc from Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, rebuilt as a full console RPG by Square Enix and Lancarse, so it works as a standalone entry whether or not you ever touched the mobile game. Combat is properly turn-based rather than ATB: you fill an enemy's stun meter, break them, then cash it in with special and combination attacks. The hook is Visions — you summon the ghosts of characters from across the series to borrow their abilities, so Cloud arrives with heavy physical hits and lightning magic, and he is one of many. A demo covering the first chapter is on the eShop, and its save carries into the full game.
