Seashell Island is going to sink. You have a sword, a friend, and no idea why.

Under the Island is a 2D action RPG built in the shape of the 16-bit adventures it grew out of — explore, fight, solve, and work out what the island is hiding on your own terms. You play Nia, newly arrived on Seashell Island, who falls in with a local girl called Avocado and learns that the place is fated to go under the ocean. The art comes from Simone Grünewald, formerly art director at Daedalic, and it carries a 90s cartoon warmth that the story quietly undercuts. Progress is non-linear and self-directed: at least six biomes, dungeons and caves are laid out to be found rather than pointed at, and a day-night cycle and weather keep the island moving while you do.
